Cannes - Nice - Monaco

Southern France. My first trip out of Italy, and what a cool experience. It was weird not knowing the language and seeing French everywhere. It all started when Erica, Emily and me took a train to Cannes. It took around 4 hours to get there and when we got to Cannes, we had around an hour or 2 to walk around until our train to Nice. Cannes it a very beautiful place, but honestly, without the Film Festival it is really nothing too out of the ordinary. It's obviously got the beauty of the sea and French Riviera but nothing really stood out. We walked around the city, through the fashion district and down to the beach and had a good time, but felt like we didn't need anymore time. We then caught a train to Nice, and Nice on the other hand was incredible. It is such a nice (haha you like that?) town with little streets and cafes everywhere, the people are very friendly and of course, it is right on the water. We were staying at a hostel where this really funny old lady ran it by herself and it was right in the middle of town. We all got dressed up and went out to explore the night life of Southern France. We found the most amazing little restaurant where i had Ratatouille! It was sooooo good! I was so happy when i saw that on the menu =). Erica and Emily had probably the best pizza I've ever tasted, and it was in France! How ironic. After dinner we walked around some more and then found a Irish pub that was supposedly really famous. It was a lot of fun and i met some New Zealanders and we talked for a while and met a lot of cool people. The next day we explored Nice some more. We walked along the coast, went up this chateau and had the most amazing view of the city and the coast. Up on the Chateau there was a park with all these children playing with their parents and it just seemed like such an amazing place to live. We then walked down to the port and found a market and looked around. At around 2:00 we got on a train to Monaco, which you may or may not is its own country. So we were leaving France and going to a new country! Monaco is so rich it is ridiculous. You could not go 10 minutes at a time without seeing a Ferrari or Lamborghini. At the port there were yachts that had garages in them which when opened, revealed another speed boat and two jet skis! And there were over 50! It was incredible. So we explored a little and eventually made our way up to the famous casino Monte Carlo. It was such a beautiful building with even more beautiful people and cars and everything! We walked in and were not allowed into the main part of the casino because you have to be super dressed up, but we were allowed in the slot room. I went in with 10 euro to play, and came out with 60 euro! I won big at Monte Carlo! It sounds cool every time i say it! After that we had one last dinner on the water and went back to the train station and made our way back to Milan. France was a really great country, and it really got me excited for my trip to Paris. The people were friendly, the atmosphere and the food were amazing. It was a great trip, and i hope to see more of France soon! =)
