Oktoberfest

My first trip into Germany was a crazy one. Oktoberfest is a festival of beer, haha. In the center of Munich every year, they have a huge carnival/festival that is full of activities, rides, food, and beer. There are a lot of tents set up that each beer company sponsors, and you go in and just party from the morning until the around 11 at night. We were in the Lowenbrau tent. This trip was organized through Bocconi (My university here) and around 100 of us took 2 buses over to Munich. First of all, Munich was freezing. Sooooo cold, and i didn't have a coat. Evil! Luckily we were inside most of the day. When we got to Oktoberfest early in the morning we waited in line at the Lowenbrau tent and when we finally got in we all ran to try and find a table. This place was so crowded, so fast, i didn't know what to do with myself. We didn't get a table right away so had to stand for a while. We eventually found one and all sat around, met people and tried some authentic German cuisine. It was a lot of fun, all my friends were there and we met some really cool people. The day felt so long though, we got there at 8 in the morning and didn't leave the tent until about 5. After that many hours my friends Ravi, Saiko and me decided we would leave and try to explore the rest of the festival, and maybe a little of Munich if we could. So we went out and walked around. I was really surprised because i thought Oktoberfest was just beer, beer and more beer, but there were it was like a real carnival. There were kids and families on roller coasters and eating candy and everything. It was really cool. We then walked around the outskirts of Oktoberfest and saw a little, but nothing really, of Munich. What i noticed was that it was a very clean, organized city. A lot more so than Milan. We only walked around for a little then went back into Oktoberfest. We met up with my friend Marica, and i have never seen anybody so excited to see us in my life. It was so amazing, she was driving with her other friends, and hadn't found any of us and when she did she was sooo happy. So we walked around, and went on a roller coaster and just enjoyed the party. At around 11 at night we went to a hotel, went to bed, woke up the next morning and left back for Milan. Driving through the German and Swiss countryside was so beautiful. With mountains and lakes, and rolling hills, it was such a pretty drive. So my first trip to Germany, wasn't really to Germany as it was to Oktoberfest, but it was still a really cool experience, and one i really enjoyed.
